Mission Anchors: the four pillars that will shape our journey together
There’s a moment in every ministry when you can feel God doing something new, something deeper, wider, and far beyond what we could organise or plan on our own. For me, stepping into this new chapter to establish the new Adventist Mission Department has felt exactly like that. An invitation. A fresh wind. A call for all of us as pastors, leaders, churches, families, and disciples to join God in what He is already doing. Mission isn’t really a department. Mission is a movement. And every movement needs a clear identity, a solid foundation, and a shared heart.
As we launch this new department, I want to introduce you to the four biblical “Mission Anchors” that are shaping who we are and who we are becoming. These aren’t slogans or strategies. They describe the spiritual DNA of a revived church grounded in Jesus, alive in the Spirit, and fully focused on God’s mission from our neighbourhoods to the nations.
1. “I Will Go With God” – Spiritual Renewal
Everything begins here. Not with money, resources, or programs, but with the presence of the living God. We go to the world because He first came to us.
This pillar reminds us that mission flows out of relationship. A revived church isn’t busy, it’s surrendered. It listens. It prays. It worships. It opens Scripture and invites the Holy Spirit to shape every part of life. If we want to see true, lasting mission in our communities, we must first experience personal renewal in our hearts.
2. “I Will Go Because Jesus Loves Me” – Gospel and Identity
This is where mission becomes personal. We need to know that we are loved, we are redeemed and we are called to mission. Mission isn’t something we do to earn God’s approval, it’s something we do because we are loved. When we serve, share, and love others, we are simply passing on what Jesus has given to us. A disciple who knows they’re loved becomes a disciple who loves deeply.
3. “I Will Go in the Power of the Holy Spirit” – Leadership and Multiplying
Mission has never been about human effort, it’s about divine empowerment. The Holy Spirit is the real leader of this movement. The Holy Spirit unites and equips us. The Holy Spirit multiplies disciples through ordinary people who say, “Here I am, Lord. Send me” As a department, we are committed to building leaders, not just for churches, but for homes, workplaces, campuses, mission fields, and new communities God is calling us to reach. Multiplication isn’t just a strategy, it’s the natural outcome of Spirit-filled disciples.
4. “I Will Go on God’s Mission” – From Local to Global
God is already at work, across the street, across the islands and across the world, our role is to simply join Him where He is already at work. This calls us into new spaces:
- new towns
- new people groups
- new neighbourhoods
- new digital mission fields
- new communities waiting
Whether through church planting, small groups, volunteer service, Global Mission Study Centers, or cross-cultural placements, God is opening doors everywhere. Every believer has a part to play, every church has a mission field and every neighbourhood has someone praying for hope.
How we can live out these pillars together
Our vision is simple, but transformational — to build a Spirit-led mission ecosystem across the South Pacific where every believer can experience Jesus deeply and share His love widely.
In the coming months, we will:
- strengthen a culture of prayer, Scripture, and revival
- create pathways for volunteers, mission teams, and local churches
- equip leaders at every level — youth, families, pastors, elders, young adults
- partner with Unions, Conferences, Missions, and institutions
- tell stories of where God is moving and invite you to join
- develop simple, practical tools to help every disciple live on mission
My prayer is that as we step into this new season of Adventist Mission, God will stir your heart with fresh passion, new confidence, and a renewed desire to join Him in changing lives.
Mission starts here and mission starts now.
Let’s go with God.
Let’s go because Jesus loves us.
Let’s go in the power of the Spirit.
Let’s go on God’s mission.
This isn’t a program, this is a calling to be part of God’s work and you are part of it.
